You journey to North and South Manitou Islands by boat from the Leland Harbor. The trip is about 50 minutes to North and 1 1/2 hours to South. The trip is across the historic Manitou Passage, where modern freighter may still be seen as well as landmarks like Pyramid Point. On your way, you'll see "the Crib", the North Manitou Shoal Light. The light (pictured right) was built in 1935 and sits on a 9 foot shoal off the island. We remind you that there is no food service on either island, so bring your lunch! You may also visit the South Manitou Island Lifesaving Station (pictured below) as you get off the boat. |
